Just Me

As I sat today, feeling a little under the weather, I began to think about heritage. I have completed the Ancestry DNA test, and I thought of 23 and Me. I probably will order that, too. I have worked hard to love the skin I’m in. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my pecan tan complexion, with matching tight coils on my head, and I, even, smile at my freckles and moles now because they are a part of me. I have contemplated closing a, not so small gap (due to a lost retainer over 20 years ago), but it gives me a little character, so, I’ll keep it. I looked a little deeper than the surface. I am an eclectic and, sometimes, energetic lover of people. No, I don’t mean that like promiscuous, I just love diversity.

So, let me take you back to the DNA results. Ancestry believes that most of my genealogical makeup is from southeast Africa. No big surprise there. What was a little shocking was the mix of Armenian, Irish, and British (not really a surprise), but it’s fascinating to me. I love all types of music, and I appreciate different views. How boring would it be if we robotically thought the same thing all the time? So, like many others, I wander around WordPress searching various topics, ideas, and activities. Many times, I feel like I hit the lottery when I run across a poem written by someone in southeast Asia that reveals words I could have spoken. I love reading and experiencing the exotic stories and feeling like I have traveled the world with adventurers because of their pictures and blogs. Today, even with the crud, I feel alive in the sense that I am an eclectic world lover, embracing my realities, and honoring our differences.

Keep pushing,
